Heaven

What must I do to be Saved?

What must I do to be saved? Can I know for sure that I am going to heaven? Where did I come from? Where am I going? Is there life after death? My dear friend, the answer to all these questions can be found in God’s Word. Have you ever wondered what the Bible says about heaven and how to get there? Please take a moment to thoughtfully consider the scriptures listed below, and those found under the other headings. After carefully considering these portions of scripture, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact Bible Baptist Church, or send us an email, we will be more than happy to answer any questions.

God Loves You

 John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Ephesians 2: 4-9
But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) 6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: 7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

1 John 4:10
Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

1 John 4: 19
We love him, because he first loved us.

John 15:13
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

Romans 5:8
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

All Have Sinned

Romans 3:10-18
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: 11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. 12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. 13 Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: 14 Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: 15 Their feet are swift to shed blood: 16 Destruction and misery are in their ways: 17 And the way of peace have they not known: 18 There is no fear of God before their eyes.

Romans 3:23
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.

Romans 5:8
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 5:12
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.

You Cannot Save yourself

Good Works, Religion, Baptism, Church Membership, Confirmation, Philosophy: None is able to reconcile a sinner back to God. Man has attempted many things in hopes of being reconciled back to God, but to no avail. The reason is not because of a lack of effort, but because a lack of knowledge in what God’s Word says. Sin created a divide so large that only God Himself could cross. That is what He did! The Lord Jesus became man, born of a virgin, lived, conquered sin, death, Hell, and rose again from the dead, “Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them”, Hebrews 7:25. Friend, I hope indeed that you are not trusting in the good that you have done, or maybe a church membership, or baptism. All of those things the Scripture speak of, but never as a condition to be saved. Compare the following Scripture verses with what you have read already…

Ephesians 2:8
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Titus 3:3
For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. 4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, 5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; 6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; 7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Jesus Christ is the Answer

John 14:1-6
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. 4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. 5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? 6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Acts 4:10-12
Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. 11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. 12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Trust him Today

The Scripture is very clear, God is going to hold each one us accountable for our lives. Therefore it is of necessity that we understand that we must personally trust the Lord Jesus for ourselves. The Bible says “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved”, Rom. 10:13. John 3:16 said, “whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life”. Do you realize from Scripture that as a sinner you are lost without hope, and without God, like us all? Do you believe Jesus, the very Son of God, came to live and die to be raised again from the dead for you? Do you realize that you cannot save yourself and that there is no good work that can get you to Heaven? What are you waiting on? Today could be the day your soul is set free from the bondage of sin! Will you trust Him? Just call upon Jesus name confessing your sin and need of salvation, He promised to give everlasting life. God made a promise, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved”, Romans 10:9. Call upon God from your heart, He will save your soul. If you have any further questions, please contact us by way of phone or email, we would be delighted to answer any questions.
